This is a new expanded version of Jewels of Awe with poetry "The Knowing added to it"
Jewels of Awe is an eclectic collection of poetry from author Patricia Sanders. In this work, the author touches upon themes such as love and loss, but also has elements of nature and the passage of time.
In "Time Says," the author draws a parallel between the passage of time and the end of a relationship.
Time says Goodbye
Standing there
Fake stones
Avoiding the sun
My face
Shocked by The coldness Of the air
Stood silent
And fell To pieces
Likewise in "Through the River," natural elements are used to embrace the somber tone of her mood.
You That I left Behind
Suddenly Drift along
A boat that sails
Through The river
Of my mind
"Jewels of Awe" is and intriquing collection of poetry that may appeal to a wide variety of readers.
The Arrow’s Journey
We wear no mask
Upon our face
We walk around
Made of glass
Easily shattered
Wounded or broken
We aim our arrow
Straight for our target:
Happiness
What gets in the way?
The loss of innocence
A tree
Our own hands
September
Tonight
You come full of kisses
A smile painted
On your face
Laughing
Singing
Happy
Open-hearted
My heart sings
To the sea
The songbird’s majesty
Happiness
I love you
Lying here next to me
Outside
The sun had set
Inside with you
The sun still
Danced
Across the sky
Open Channels
He stands so strong
In the open channels
I explore
Cascading through the door
A lightning bolt
Striking cautiously
He opens books
To remind himself
Humanity
Is not perfection
A slight oversight
Taken to correction
Some days
He sings
As wild fire
Other days
He whispers
And I must strain
To hear
His timid voice
Death
I’ll never see your face again
Or hear your laughter
As days go by
I remember you still, as you were
When you were still here
With swollen tears
And a heart that aches
I’ll never again feel your embrace
Even though your spirit is here
It’s just not the same
As hearing your voice
And seeing you near
No more tomorrows will hold you
Only yesterday remains
Yet the sun still sets and the stars burn bright
The morning becomes day
The day becomes night
But you are not here
And the sorrow and pain
That death can claim
Bring heavy hands
It’s just not the same
And I wish that you were still here
With footsteps light
And laughter long
Bowl of Fruit
Your face
Turns dark
A shadow on the wall
Hides from view
I miss the sight
Of love
The scent of morning dew
Dust fills the room
Paintings hang
Upside down
Fruit sits quietly
In a bowl
Waiting…
To be eaten
Upon My Soul
On ground of sacred Earth
The ringing of bells
Can be heard
Calling us to remember
A truth veiled lightly
In a blanket of forgetfulness
I’ll find me there
Where angel’s songs
Upon my ears
Do greet the morning sun
And in the cracks
My worthiness I left unkempt
In a long forgotten place
Sullen
The road more frequently traveled
When joy forgot her face
The child inside
A voice so long unheard
Safely tucked into the womb
Of love’s sweet arms
Woven of all that glitters
Calling Me Home
Shadows that used to appear
Melt away in the light of this horizon
Calling me home
Night passing by
Crumbles like dust in the wind
I no longer revisit old ghosts
Memories that used to haunt me
Fall away
Life reclaims me
In the nature of things
No longer broken
No longer needing
No hole to fill
I am whole
I am home
Vanity’s Allure
The place of ego
I know it well
It’s been my friend, a lover
The words that kept me
From moving forward
Kept me from going up when I was down
Created illusions that comforted me
Showed me doors
With superficial treasures
What grace brought me to this authenticity?
What gift showed me the right road, the correct path to the door of this peace
I now know?
I am not sure
Still the ego’s trappings remain a friend to me
The billionaire’s song
Vanity’s allure
The knock upon the door
That says
Come in
Old friend
Humanity’s Stones
I want to know I can trust you
We did not sever a long forgotten past
Karmic dealings sold upon a street fair
Of a foreign town
No wonder we gathered a pile of
Misunderstandings
In the hands we held together
What healing will bring the peace, the white flag of surrender to claim the victory?
No war is ever won
Cast your iron shoe
Into the fire of release from
Humanity’s stones
That hold us back
